Chief Fire Officer at the Msukaligwa Fire Station, Mr Jaco Johnstone, said the equipment would add to the municipality’s capacity and also serve as a back-up to address challenges faced during equipment breakdown or when equipment is sent for service.

“The fire station appreciates Eskom’s gesture as it is an indication that the organisation heeds the government’s call to strengthen partnerships among all society structures for the benefit of the country,” said Mr Johnstone.

He also said the fire station services at least 6016 square kilometre in Ermelo and surroundings areas and with the additional capacity, communities will not have to wait longer to be assisted with fire-related emergencies.

“Eskom is committed to uplifting our local community and we hope that with this donation, we are able to make a small, yet significant contribution,” said Mr Ralph Griffiths, Acting Materials Management Manager at Camden Power Station.

He hopes the equipment will help the municipality in dealing with among others veld and shack fires and road accidents.
