Man receives seven years for stock theft at the Smithfield Farm

A man was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for stock theft after he stole sheep worth R14 000 at the Smithfield Farm last year.

Skhumbuzo Enock Nhleko (46) was sentenced at the Ermelo Regional Court on Monday, 28 May.

According to Ermelo police spokesman, Capt Carla Prinsloo, a Ford Ranger vehicle which was used to transport the stolen stock, was also forfeited to the state.

The sentence emanated from an incident in March 2017 during which Nhleko stole sheep from the farm.
